THE Northern Counties East League are holding a meeting tomorrow evening to discuss the possibility of holding a League Cup competition in front of crowds to make up for a lack of action.
Yesterday, it was confirmed that the season at Steps 3 to 6 of the National League System had been curtailed, meaning no more league action until August at the earliest.
It is important to note that it is just the league, with Liversedge's FA Vase journey set to continue from April. They have reached the last-32 stage.
But for all the other teams in the Bradford District, like Thackley, Eccleshill, Campion and Silsden, they will want something to fill that lengthy void.
And in a statement released by the NCEL last night, they said: "Following on from the FA announcement tonight, the NCEL Management Board will be holding an extra meeting this Friday evening to discuss the implications of the curtailment of the 2020/21 Toolstation NCEL season and what happens next.
"This will include discussions about the feasibility of holding a League Cup competition or similar in the coming months, subject to crowds being allowed in."
