YORKSHIRE'S Dawid Malan will play in his first Indian Premier League campaign this coming April and May after being picked up in this week's auction by Kings XI Punjab.

Malan was sold to Punjab for approximately £148,000.

Unfortunately, the world’s number one ranked T20 batsman will miss the early stages of the English county season as a result of his selection.

Jonny Bairstow is in the same situation having been retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad prior to yesterday’s auction.

Adil Rashid and David Willey went under the hammer alongside Malan, but they went unsold.
