City's Yorkshire derby with Rotherham this afternoon is OFF.

Referee Danny McDiarmid carried out two inspections of the Valley Parade pitch this morning before making a final decision at 12.30pm that it was too hard around the goal mouth at the TL Dallas Stand end of the ground.

It is the first game City have lost to the weather since March 2004 when a home clash with Watford was called off for similar reasons.

The Rotherham game will now be rescheduled for a midweek date early in the new year. But City cannot move it to their free date on Saturday, January 5 because the Millers are in league action that day against MK Dons.
