REBECCA Kenna missed her chance to make history at the Snooker Shoot Out in Milton Keynes yesterday.
The Keighley amateur was beaten by Germany's Simon Lichtenberg in the first round of the unique single-frame tournament.
She had been bidding to become the first female player to win a match in the televised stages of a ranking event.
Kenna missed a golden chance midway through the frame when she ran out of time on the shot clock as she cued up a relatively simple red.
Kenna's complaint that she had not heard the five-second warning pips fell on deaf ears and let Lichtenberg in to effectively seal victory.
Women's world number one Reanne Evans, who has competed in the tournament twice before, is due to face John J Astley in her first round match this evening.
