CONOR Sellars has confirmed that Oldham’s Conor McAleny is on City’s list of potential signings.

But the joint-interim boss this afternoon suggested that the 28-year-old was not one of their leading targets in the final week of the January transfer window.

Sellars said: “His name’s on the list. How high on there it is – he’s probably not a priority and main target for some reasons.

“He’s a good player, he’s got goals but also we’re looking at the bigger picture and doing the due diligence making sure he’s the right fit for Bradford City.

“We’re hoping to get some more over the line. If they’re right for us and we’re right for them, we’ll surely look to strengthen.”

When asked about the comments, Oldham boss Harry Kewell told the Oldham Times: “Anybody can talk about any player.

“I’ve literally just come back from training and I’m being told about it.

“It’s an interesting comment because he says he’s on his list but he’s not the type of player that he wants, but they’re looking for a player like him.

“I don’t get it but that’s none of my concern.

“Conor’s a fantastic player for us, he’s scored 14 goals this season which is a fantastic turnaround for a striker in half a season and he probably could have had a couple more if I’d allowed him to take penalties!

“But other than that, he’s a player I don’t want to lose, and the club don’t want to lose.”

City expect to be without Lee Novak and Harry Pritchard again at Southend tomorrow.

Sellars added: “Lee’s getting the final assessment this week which will give us an indicator on the time frame. But he’s looking quite good at the minute for us, so we’ll see what happens.

“Pritch has been doing light training with the physical department. We’re just looking to ease him in with his specific injury so he’s not available for tomorrow.”
