THE Quaid-e-Azam Premier Cricket League have given themselves a deadline of the end of the month for finalising their teams for the 2021 season.

The league, largely based in Leeds and Bradford and which was only formed last season, have two applications to ponder.

Basharat Hussain, the league’s executive chairman, initially thought that they would accept just one of the two teams.

However, he revealed to the Telegraph & Argus: “We may accept both clubs. I cannot name either of them at the moment but one of them is a third team which will involve a lot of younger players.”

There was one vacancy in the league’s Star Section (it has 10 clubs compared to the Crescent Section’s 11 clubs, which both sit below the Premier Section).

The league’s 2020 season started in late July, with the affiliated Dewsbury District League beginning a week later in early August.

Hussain said: “The Dewsbury League now have a decision to make as to whether they want to join us fully and have promotion and relegation as we have or to continue as an affiliated league.

“We also hope to have a decision on that by the beginning of February.”

Kashmir won the Premier Section last season and dedicated their triumph to founder club member Haji Mohammed Bashir, who died last August after a short illness.

Central Leeds were relegated from the top flight, with Khan and Subhan promoted from the Crescent Section and Star Section respectively.

New clubs already confirmed for 2021 are Mylahore, Khan 2nd XI, Leeds Stallion and AQ Khan CC Leeds.

Mylahore and Leeds Stallion have been placed in the Crescent Section for 2021, with AQ Khan and Khan 2nd XI in the Star Section.
