MIDDLESBROUGH striker Rumarn Burrell has become City’s fourth signing of the transfer window.

The 20-year-old has joined on loan for the rest of the season. He replaces Austin Samuels who was sent back to Wolves earlier this week.

A product of Grimsby’s academy, Birmingham-born Burrell made four senior appearances for the Mariners before making a six-figure move to Boro in the summer of 2019.

Burrell, who has scored four goals in 11 appearances for Boro's under-23s this season, made his debut for the Championship club last weekend in their FA Cup defeat at Brentford.

He is not expected to be the only frontman that City will be signing in the window.

Interim Bantams boss Mark Trueman said: “Our attack is one of the areas we knew we needed to strengthen, and Rumarn’s arrival is the first of hopefully a few more to come this window.

“He is fast and direct with an eye for goal, which are all things we are desperate to bring to the side.

“Conor (Sellars) and I have been monitoring him since our time in youth football and are confident in his ability to compete at this level. We look forward to seeing him in action at Valley Parade.”

Burrell, who will wear the number 19 shirt, said: “I am very excited to be here and cannot wait to get started.

“I have a lot of experience in the under-23s but am desperate to experience first-team football and be a part of how Bradford City play, so feel I have made the right decision.

“This is my first loan move and will be a challenge, but I feel ready and am looking forward to hopefully scoring some goals.”
