CITY have signed Will Huffer as goalkeeping cover from Bradford (Park Avenue).

The 6ft 4in former Leeds stopper has signed a deal until the end of the season to back up Sam Hornby - with Richard O'Donnell sidelined by a thigh injury.

Huffer said: “I am really happy to be here. It happened very quickly but the lads have been great with me so far and I have been impressed by the setup.

“Hopefully, I can get a few games under my belt here and do well for the club to help us progress.

“I want to help us put a good run together, continue to pick up points and have a strong finish to the season.”

The 22-year-old Londoner only joined Avenue two months ago. He made one appearance in their 3-1 FA Trophy loss to Chester.

Huffer kept a clean sheet in his only Leeds outing – a 2-0 Championship win over Bristol City in November 2018 when Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Jamal Blackman were both injured.

He went on loan to Barnet and made five appearances for the National League club before being recalled by Leeds a month later because of injury to Kamil Miazek.

Huffer, who has represented England at under-16, under-17 and under-18 level, was released by the Premier League club at the end of his contract last summer.

City interim manager Mark Trueman said: “We are pleased to have been able to bring Will to the club and add depth and competition to our goalkeeping department.

“He is a talented young goalkeeper who was rated very highly at Leeds United, and we are looking forward to seeing what he can do here.”
