BEN Richards-Everton is likely to have played his last game for City as they gear up for a hectic transfer window.

Interim bosses Mark Trueman and Conor Sellars held another meeting yesterday with chief executive Ryan Sparks and new recruitment director Lee Turnbull to firm up their strategy.

January is a traditionally testing market but the Bantams are comfortable with their groundwork heading into a month when they aim to bolster a side currently on the up since the hot-seat change.

Alongside the expected arrivals, players on the fringes could be on their way out to balance the books within the salary cap.

Richards-Everton has not been involved at all since being subbed after half an hour at Oldham in City’s final game under Stuart McCall.

The centre-half, who has made 13 appearances this season, has not even made the squad with Trueman and Sellars.

Winger Dylan Mottley-Henry has also been jettisoned from their plans in the five games following McCall’s departure.

With Sam Hornby called up to replace the injured Richard O’Donnell in goal, the management duo picked seven outfield players on the bench against Port Vale. But teenager Jorge Sikora was preferred to Richards-Everton.

Sparks confirmed that those currently surplus to requirements may be moved on.

“Nothing is off the table,” he said. “There are some players that are probably struggling for game time with us at the moment.

“We’ll be looking to get them some game time but we’ll have to see how that progresses across the window.

“Everyone’s got a part to play and we’ve not got the biggest squad or the deepest and people know that.

“But on that front we’ll just see how things pan out and what comes up.”

When asked about Richards-Everton’s continued absence, Trueman insisted the team’s recent performances warranted sticking with the same names.

He said: “Since myself and Conor have come in, this group of players have performed.

“If they are doing that, then it’s hard for us to make changes.

“Ben and Dylan have got great attitudes and application. They’ve been working even harder and that’s the kind of reaction we want.”

City have identified a number of targets in specific areas where the squad remains light. Another striker and a winger are expected to be high on their list.

Trueman added: “We’ve got players in mind already. It’s important we make the right decisions and that’s where Lee comes in with his vast amount of knowledge.

“He’s already speaking to us about players who are going to improve this group. That’s key and they’ve obviously got to be the right characters.

“It’s a good group we’ve got in the building so we’ve got to keep adding to it and maybe give us something a bit different.”

Sparks said: “The players we would like to bring to the club and the areas of the squad we want to further strengthen are set.

“When we talk about strengthening, it’s not necessarily about quantity but quality. That doesn’t just mean one or two but what’s necessary to make us better.”
