The Football League have finally given clearance for Willy Topp to play for City.
It means the Chilean striker at last becomes a fully-fledged Bantam after spending the best part of three months training with the club.
The 21-year-old, signed for £35,000 from Universidad Catolica, becomes the first player that City have paid money for since they shelled out £100,000 for Dunfermline defender Andy Tod back in November 2001.
City thought the deal had been sewn up before the end of last month after they received international clearance.
But the saga has dragged on after the Football League were not happy with the wording of the contract but they have now given the two-year deal the green light.
Topp is available for Saturday's game at home to Rotherham but his first appearance on City's books could be the reserve match against West Brom at Valley Parade the following Tuesday.
City boss Stuart McCall may want him to build up his match fitness before giving him his first-team debut.
