WITH the hectic Christmas period in mind, and suspensions and injuries challenging Avenue’s small squad, manager Mark Bower has moved to secure the services of a talented young West Yorkshireman in central midfield.

Regan Booty, who is 22, hails from Huddersfield and came through the Terriers’ academy.

Booty made 42 appearances for Aldershot while on loan there, earning himself a permanent transfer to Notts County.

He made 24 appearances for the Magpies as they secured a place in the National League play-off final in last year’s shortened season, losing the showpiece 3-1 to Harrogate Town at Wembley.

He scored two goals for County last season, but the cultured left-footed midfielder’s main role is as a playmaker.

He will go straight into Avenue’s squad for today’s National League North home game against in-form Leamington.

Speaking to Avenue’s club website, Booty said: “I’m glad to get everything sorted in time for the game this weekend.

“I’m really looking forward to getting that matchday buzz back and to be back playing games.

“I already know a few of the boys, so I’m looking forward to meeting the rest of the squad and getting going.”

Avenue player/coach Ryan Toulson said: “Regan is a player we have kept an eye on over the last few years.

“Myself and Mark watched him at Huddersfield Town on numerous occasions and we tried to bring him in previously so we know the qualities that he can bring to the team.

“He’s an aspiring young player who wants to progress in the game, so hopefully his hunger and quality will be beneficial all round.”

Avenue have also confirmed that young strikers Ethan Henderson and Ion Ibrain have both left the club.
