ALBION Sports continue to make reinforcements as they look to bounce back from their 2019-20 horror show.

They came second bottom last season, and were only spared the very real threat of relegation by the coronavirus pandemic, which ensured the Northern Counties East League Premier Division campaign was declared null and void.

But they have brought in new managers for this season, in the shape of Pav Singh and Ishy Hussain, and revamped the squad somewhat.

They had already signed star Eccleshill United defenders Sam Bradley and Aran Basi, while they secured a third player from the Eagles last Monday in the form of left-back Mo Kaba.

But now they have reinforced their forward line, with the signing of Silsden striker Khurram Shazad.

Shazad had been a first team regular for the Cobbydalers this season, with his standout performance seeing him net a brace in his side's 5-3 FA Vase defeat to Guisborough Town in October.

It will have come as a real blow to Silsden boss Danny Forrest, who has already seen Shazad's fellow striker Antony Brown go to Mossley earlier in the season, while exciting attacking midfielder Leon Hurles-Brook decided to leave to rejoin his former side Campion midway through last month.

In the case of Shazad, Silsden's loss is Albion's gain.

Singh and Hussain's side, who are a Bradford outfit but have had to spend the last few years as tenants of National League North side Farsley Celtic, currently sit 11th, with 10 points from their opening seven games.

They have scored 11 league goals so far, but more than half of those came in one match, when a Danny Facey hat-trick saw them romp to a 6-2 home win over struggling Bottesford Town.

They have also been at home in five of their seven league games, and are yet to find the net on the road.

But in Shazad they have a striker who knows this league well and they will be hoping his goals can fire them from mid-table obscurity to promotion challengers, once the season restarts.
