STUART McCall called City “poor all over the park” after they were dumped out the FA Cup by Oldham.

The Bantams were flattered by the 2-1 result as their League Two rivals claimed a second Valley Parade win this month to move into round three.

Zeli Ismail was also forced off with a hamstring injury as McCall revealed the news that Reece Staunton is facing a long absence of “several months” after his scan revealed the worst-grade tear.

Clayton Donaldson’s early penalty, which gave McCall’s side a brief lead, was their only shot on target.

McCall said: “Every part of our game was really poor. There were no positives.

“Did we create enough? No. Did we look after it up top? No. Did we get about the middle of the park? No. Did we defend well? Certainly not.

“They were stronger than us up front and held the ball up better, the midfield runners got forward better and our all-round performance was poor.

“The biggest disappointment was our possession of the ball. If you can’t pass it from A to B, then you’re struggling.

“I thought their good players were really good. You can tell they’ve won five out of six and they are playing with a bit of bubbliness.

“We shouldn’t have lacked confidence but that will set in if you can’t pass a ball and keep giving it away.

“It was like Exeter and Salford at times. We give up cheap possession and gift the opposition chances at goal.”

Oldham dominated the first half but City managed to go in level at the break – only to concede again soon after the restart.

“We were so fortunate to still be in the cup at half-time,” added McCall. “They should have been out of sight after the period they had.

“We changed it to go to a more solid shape, if you like, and lose a goal within two minutes.

“We go from Leyton Orient, where we were solid and kept them to one shot on target, to today when we were poor in all areas.”
