ANOTHER Keighley Cougars player has found a new home, after exciting young forward Lewis Wray completed a move to their League One rivals Hunslet yesterday.
Keighley announced that eight players would be leaving the club after the expiration of their contracts on November 30, with Wray being one of them.
The 22-year-old has been unlucky in his time at Cougars, suffering a stop-start two years there, including a nasty-looking neck injury while on loan from Wakefield in March 2019.
But he is over those issues now, and clearly has a lot to offer at League One level.
Wray told Hunslet's website: “A big factor in me joining Hunslet is the spirit in the camp.
“I know Harvey Hallas well from both Wakefield and Keighley, and it will be good to play alongside him again.
“Harvey had nothing but good things to say about the club, and I’ve heard similar reports from elsewhere.
“Then I spoke over the phone to (head coach) Gary Thornton, and I was impressed, not only by his plans for the team but by what he told me about Hunslet’s history.
“I’m aware that I’m joining one of rugby league’s great clubs, and that means something.”
