CAMPION may be out of action for the next four weeks due to the new national lockdown, but they have made an important move to shore up their leaky defence.

They have secured the impressive signing of imposing centre-half Tom Brennan from perennial Northern Counties East League Premier Division title challengers Penistone Church.

Brennan had not started a game for the Sheffield-based side since the start of October, but he has been a key player for them over the last three years.

He also used to be on Emley's books.

A new centre-half was likely a priority for the Red and Blacks. They are still top of Division One of the NCEL, but suffered two woeful defeats just before lockdown, losing 5-4 at Parkgate on October 31 and 5-3 at home to Armthorpe Welfare last Wednesday.

Brennan is likely to start Campion's next game therefore, which is now set to be at home to Nostell Miners Welfare on December 5.
