STUART McCall felt City should have been celebrating their second comeback Valley Parade victory.

Billy Clarke’s second-half penalty helped them to a point with a 1-1 draw against Walsall last night.

The Bantams had fallen behind to a thumping long-range drive from George Nurse but hit back after the break.

City had recovered from a half-time deficit to beat Stevenage at home a month ago – and McCall was left slightly deflated that they could not repeat the trick against a Saddlers side still unbeaten this season.

He said: “I thought we did enough second half to win it with the pressure we put on them.

“We didn’t have any great, clear-cut chances but there were corners and two or three close incidents like back-post headers when we could have done better.

“With the momentum, pressure and waves of attack, I thought we would get another one late on.”

McCall had stuck with the same side that won 3-1 at Mansfield last weekend.

“When everyone played as well as they did, they all merited starting.

“I thought early on maybe we could have freshened it up because we looked a little bit leggy in parts. But then we put in a really strong second half.

“The first half was even, a bit scrappy – but they are unbeaten in 12 now and don’t concede many.

“You get beaten by a 25-yarder and you hold your hand up to a great strike, although he shouldn’t have been able to go from the halfway line.

“We came out and really had a go. There was only one team who looked like winning once we got the goal.

“We got Woody (Connor Wood) 20 yards further up the pitch second half again. He got the penalty, had a header at the back post he probably should do better with and put crosses in.

“Walsall are a hard-working side and difficult to break down at times but we weren’t as sharp and precise with our passing at first.

“But we started getting into better areas in the second half and I thought the goal was coming.

“I’m slightly disappointed it’s not a victory but it’s a hard-earned point.”

Bryce Hosannah will have an x-ray today to determine the extent of the toe injury that forced him off at half-time.

The on-loan Leeds defender suffered the blow in a 50-50 challenge.

McCall said: “We’ll get it checked and fingers crossed there’s not a little crack or break.

“He’s started well so it’s disappointing for the kid. Hopefully it’s just a sore one but we’ll see in the next couple of days.”
