CITY have got their striker after signing Austin Samuels on a season-long loan from Wolves.

Samuels, who turns 20 next month, scored against them in midweek in the EFL Trophy.

And Stuart McCall has secured the pacey frontman to complete the “final piece in the jigsaw” for City in the transfer window.

And Samuels could make his debut in front of the TV cameras against Harrogate at Valley Parade on Monday night.

He said: “It feels great to be here and I cannot wait to get started. I am looking forward to getting out there and showing our supporters what I can do.

“I am a fast player who likes to get in behind and stretch the backline, and feel like I have good finishing ability.

“After playing against Bradford City earlier in the week it made me even more eager to come here. They have a great system in place which I am excited to be a part of.”

McCall hopes the Premier League youngster can bring something different to City’s attacking resources.

“I had done a lot of research on him before we played Wolves Under-21s in the EFL Trophy and he had impressed me then, with the way he handled himself in games,” said the Bantams boss.

“He has pace, is great at getting in behind and down the sides of defenders and has terrific movement - which is exactly what we were looking for.

“The Wolves staff said he has improved drastically over the past six months and everyone I have spoken to about him has said extremely positive things.”

Samuels was spotted by a Wolves scout playing for local club Newbridge Rangers as a seven-year-old and has been with the club ever since.

Having scored goals for England at under-16 and under-17 level, he was part of the club’s pre-season tour of China in 2019.

He finished last season playing in the National League North on loan at Kidderminster.
