GUISELEY smashed their way into the next round of the Emirates FA Cup after a comfortable 4-0 victory over lower league Atherton Collieries.

Kaine Felix bagged a double in the rout which landed them a tie with another Northern Premier League Premier Division side Matlock Town in the third qualifying round.

Lions supporters were already in a good mood pre kick-off thanks to the club announcing that academy defenders Ollie Brown and Chukwudalu Molokwu, midfielder Lewis Hey, and forwards Jake Charles and Adam Haw have all captured first team contracts.

While, trialists Jack Ryan and Isaac Currie also signed deals for the 2020/21 campaign. The latter made his official debut against Atherton, coming on as a late substitute.

It was a steady first 10 minutes at a damp Nethermoor until Felix broke the deadlock. The talisman turned well in the box before producing a neat finish into the bottom corner.

Brad Wade was then called upon on two occasions. Firstly, he did well to come out and halt a counter attack, followed by an excellent save to deny Elliot Rokka.

As the match edged to the break, Mark Howarth and George Cantrill received bookings due to suspect challenges.

The Lions were immediately on the frontfoot post the break and added a second when Vinny Bailey sliced into his own net.

Guiseley continued to look the better side heading into the final quarter. Felix grabbed his brace by rounding Taberner and finding the empty net.

The hosts were not finished though and completed the rout with a fourth in the last minute through Howarth.

The club also stated their Vanarama National League North clash with Farsley Celtic on January 2 has been moved to New Years Day (3pm).
