MATT Welham has wasted no time in finding a new club after it was announced last week that he was being released by Keighley Cougars.
The utility back has joined Coventry Bears ahead of the 2021 season, where he will get the chance to link up with his brother Liam.
Speaking to Coventry's club website, their head coach Richard Squires said: “Matt brings us some real threat in the outside backs.
“Having the chance to link up with his brother Liam was a huge attraction and with those two together they could cause a lot of damage against teams.
“Matty is very versatile and gives us a number of options. He’s very unpredictable to play against and (we) could not be happier to add him to our squad.”
Welham was due to have one more season at Cougar Park, but club and player mutually agreed to terminate the final year of his contract, following a change in personal circumstances outside of the game for him.
Will Cooke, who was also confirmed to be leaving Cougars at the end of last week, has joined Hunslet for 2021.
