BRADFORD'S Mason Greenwood has had a bit of a dampener put on his birthday by England manager Gareth Southgate, after he was left out of the latest England squad.

The Three Lions are due to play Wales, Belgium and Denmark this month, but the Wibsey teenager, who turns 19 today, will not be involved, nor will another fellow young star, Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden.

The pair made their senior England debuts last month in Iceland before being fined by local police and sent home for breaching Covid-19 regulations.

Southgate said at the time that "trust needs to be rebuilt" with Greenwood and Foden, so it came as little surprise that both were absent from the squad announced today.

But there was better news for Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips. He made his England debut last month against Denmark, and has been rewarded for his performance in Copenhagen with a second successive England call-up.
