BRADFORD City are supporting recently-established Bradford charity, Action For Sport.

Headed by Andrew Kenure and City academy and under-18s scout Clive Michallat, the fund aims to aid children in poverty throughout the region by donating second-hand kit, allowing them to play sport.

Support from the Bantams will now see Action For Sport - which initially began as a project named 'Bring Your Boots' - based permanently at Valley Parade, with an executive box office and vital storage facility provided.

The charity aims to provide as many children living in poverty as it can with the physical means to play sport, through donating boots, shirts and equipment via their amateur clubs and schools.

Kenure is proud to be seeing the creation take off, and is proud of the involvement with the club.

He said: "We believe charity begins at home, and Clive and I are just eager to help as many people as we possibly can.

"The connection with the club, for us, is massive. It gives us a permanent base and enables us to become a fully-functioning charity.

"To be around like-minded club icons like Wayne Jacobs and Ian Ormondroyd, who are involved in a lot of charity work of their own, shows everyone that this really is all one football club.

"We want to be able to educate people on doing the right thing, purely because it is the right thing to do.

"There has been so much positive feedback so far, and we believe this gives us the perfect opportunity for it to continue."

Michallat also spoke on the importance of the support the pair's charity has received.

He added: "We have had this idea for close to two years now. It has taken so long to get past various different barriers, but Bradford City has really given us a huge springboard.

"The club has really given us the confidence to take this forward and it just all felt like the right thing to do.

"Myself and Andy work in education and see poverty levels first-hand, so we know the amount of work that needs to go into this domain, particularly in our local community.

"Neil Matthews (academy manager) and Paula Watson (head of operations) have been a major catalyst in allowing all this to happen, which has been great.

"We have many more exciting initiatives and projects planned for the near future, to help the local community."
