GARETH Evans is back at Valley Parade after signing a two-year deal.

The attacker is reunited with Stuart McCall, who originally brought him to City from Macclesfield in 2009. Evans played 85 times in his first spell with the club.

His return was confirmed after he left Portsmouth following a five-year spell on the south coast. He made 218 appearances and helped them to the League Two title in 2017.

Evans, who will wear number 17, said: “I am delighted to be back. If I am honest, I never thought I would see the day, but I am over the moon to be here and looking forward to getting to know the lads and playing at this club again.

“My time at Portsmouth was up a little bit and as soon as I knew Bradford City and Stuart McCall were interested, it was something I was excited to be getting finalised.

“I really enjoyed playing for the club last time and have some very fond memories. I would love nothing more than to achieve success here.”

Bantams boss McCall added: "I obviously know Gareth very well having signed him during my first spell as City manager and am really looking forward to working with him again.

"Naturally, he has matured now - both as a person and a player - and, through hard work and dedication, has become a top-class professional.

"He has a lot of great qualities which we are constantly looking to fill this football club with - both in terms of his footballing ability and personality.

"He knows what it takes to achieve promotion from this division, and we are very pleased to be welcoming him here."
