STUART McCall admitted he left Forest Green with mixed emotions after nine-man City drew 2-2.

An equaliser deep in stoppage-time denied them a remarkable win in a game which saw both Anthony and Paudie O’Connor red-carded in the second half.

Lee Novak and Elliot Watt twice put McCall’s men ahead before Rovers, who had also missed a penalty, salvaged a point after City had played nearly half an hour with two men down.

He said: “It was a rollercoaster of a game with so many ups and downs.

“It could have been better, it could have been worse but we’ll take a point. Overall it was probably a fair result.”

McCall will study footage of Paudie O’Connor’s sending-off before deciding whether to fine him. The defender was dismissed for an alleged headbutt on Ebou Adams, who fell dramatically over an advertising board.

The City boss, who spoke to Adams about it after the game, added: “It’s the reaction that gets Paudie sent off, he flings himself back. But if Paudie doesn’t go up to him, it doesn’t happen.

“I don’t think it was a head butt and I asked the boy Adams if he bought it a bit.

“He came back to me afterwards and said he didn’t want the lad to get fined a couple of weeks’ wages for indiscipline.

“Paudie was distraught but he’s given the referee a decision to make.”

City will also assess Reece Staunton who hobbled away after injuring his left ankle in the build-up to Forest Green’s late second goal.
