The club were in raptures on Tuesday, heartened to a man by the victory over neighbours Liversedge that took Thackley into the last eight of the West Riding County Cup.

First-team boss John Boyle's delight was tempered by injury concerns but the youth team followed up with another derby victory the following night to make sure the feel-good factor did not evaporate.

Former Guiseley forward Danny Forrest, not the former Bantams youngster of the same name who moved on to Halifax Town, was sidelined for the win over Sedge and could be missing for while.

Boyle explained: "Danny has possibly got a broken toe - I say possibly because it is something of a mystery as to what happened and when it happened.

"At first it looked like he had done it a week last Sunday playing Sunday League football, but he could have done it playing for us the day before and just aggravated it on the Sunday.

"We decided to rest him for last Saturday at home to Parkgate and brought him back into the squad for the cup tie against Sedge.

"He went out for the warm-up but had to come off and we decided he had to go for an X-ray to get to the bottom of the problem.

"It was a good win against Sedge but, more important for me, was the performance and the confidence it gave us before tomorrow's league derby at Eccleshill.

"If we had lost, more pressure would have been on us for this game."

The youth team also has another derby looming. John McCreary said: "The lads beat leaders Bradford Park Avenue 3-2 on Wednesday.

"Avenue played route one and were frustrated. Andy Brown got two goals for us in eight minutes and Gary Litvinov got the third. We are now second and meet them on Wednesday away."
