The Celts' first involvement in the FA Trophy this season will be an away tie in the first-round proper at a club two divisions lower in the pyramid system.

Gateshead, a north-east outfit with a proud tradition, await Farsley a fortnight tomorrow.

The Geordies, who are rivals of Guiseley in the UniBond Premier Division, play at the impressive International Stadium.

The prize on offer is a place in the last 32 of a competition which ends with a final at the new Wembley Stadium in May.

The Celts may have drawn opponents from a lower tier but both Halifax Town and Guiseley will be at home.

Guiseley are up against Kidderminster Harriers and Halifax - as a Blue Square Premier club like the Celts they were exempt until this round - face Leamington at The Shay.

Meanwhile, Farsley caretaker boss John Deacey is hoping his new signings Steve Torpey and Mark Hotte can help turn the club's fortunes around as they battle to stay out of the relegation zone.

He is also looking to have the two recent red cards looked at by the appeals panel after finishing against both Altrincham and Crawley Town with ten men.

"It seems that the dismissal of Damien Reeves in the Altrincham game is one we can't do anything about but Mark Jackson's sending-off at Crawley was in different circumstances," said Deacey.

"It has not been an easy baptism for me but you have to get on with it. If it was something I or we as a club could have affected we would have.

"But it wasn't something we could have managed differently - it hinged on the referees' interpretation of challenges."
