Mark Lawn today stressed there was no "hidden agenda" behind City's cut-price Christmas season-ticket offer.

The joint-chairman has been disappointed by the reaction of some fans on the internet, questioning the motives behind the decision to freeze prices through next month.

Lawn said: "This is a thank-you gift to the supporters. If they are looking for a Christmas present, what better one to buy?

"It's given with the same reasoning as the original offer for this season - if they don't want to take it, then don't take it.

"This money isn't going to be used in the transfer window in January, it's going into next season's budget. There is no hidden agenda or conspiracy and it disappoints me how negative some people are.

"If they are that worried, I will personally guarantee everybody that buys a season-ticket that if anything terrible was to happen then I will pay them back the money myself.

"I've put my kids' inheritance into this club and it frustrates me to get this type of reaction.

"Some people are only happy when they're moaning.

"We are in line with the players' budget and will stay there, although Julian Rhodes and myself might make money available for the transfer window if needed by Stuart (McCall)."
