ALBION Sports have made it into the FA Cup preliminary round after a narrow 1-0 win at Bradford rivals Campion last night.

Despite heavy rain throughout yesterday afternoon, the extra preliminary round clash at Scotchman Road went ahead as planned.

Campion striker Aidan Kirby had a shot well saved from close range in what was an even first half, before Jason Carney and Patrick Sykes both went close for the Red and Blacks after the break.

But Albion had created a few chances of their own, and it was their man Sanchez Payne who broke the deadlock in the 77th minute, pouncing on a loose ball and firing home into the bottom corner.

Albion looked more likely to grab a second thereafter, but they conceded a penalty in the final minute.

But Campion wasted it, with Sean Hunter blazing the ball over the bar, so it was the visitors who went through. They will visit Runcorn Linnets in the next round on September 12.
