Thackley face their second derby in a matter of days on Saturday as they visit old foes Eccleshill United when the Northern Counties East Premier Division's two closest clubs go head to head.

Their grounds are separated by just two miles and many of the players involved have had spells with both teams.

Thackley chief John Boyle said: "I will wish Mick Watson (Eccleshill manager) good luck when I have a pint with him on Friday but I won't mean it!"

"I meet him every week for a drink and have done since before he ran our reserve side at Dennyfield.

"It was good timing to beat Liversedge in the County Cup in midweek. That was a confidence-boost going into this derby."

The Eagles are looking to bounce back after slipping to a surprise defeat last time out in the league.

But they did temper their 2-1 loss at Maltby Main with a 3-1 win over Pontefract Collieries in the County Cup.

Watson said: "We would like to get our league form back on track but we have to remember that the defeat at Maltby was our first in seven games.

"We want three points so that we can go into the week-long break after the game in a good place in the table.

"Any rest is welcome after all the midweek fixtures we have had but we don't want to lose ground."

Eccleshill still have Danny Ferrand and Chris Cookson out and also have a doubt about skipper Chris Rosindale, who picked up a thigh strain in Tuesday's win.

Thackley's main worry is Danny Forrest, who has a suspected broken toe.
