Avenue will start December hoping to carry on where they left off, having won the division's club of the month award for November.

The accolade comes as no surprise following six straight league wins, including victories over leaders Curzon Ashton, the highly-fancied FC United of Manchester and third-placed Bamber Bridge.

That run has catapulted the Bradford side into second place, four points behind Curzon with a game in hand.

Now they are looking to continue that form at home to promotion rivals Garforth Town on Saturday.

Millionaire Brazilian Soccer Schools founder Simon Clifford, also a former Southampton coach, has guided Garforth to fifth spot.

Avenue boss Benny Phillips said: "I haven't seen Garforth play so far this season but I have heard a lot about them from various sources.

"They have a man in charge of the club and the team who is very forward-thinking. I understand he has done a lot for the club and it is his drive that has placed them where they are.

"They started well in this division after gaining promotion last season, had a bit of a spell where things weren't going their way but are back in form.

"There again, if we hit anything like the levels we have over the last month or so we can beat anyone on our day."

Phillips' pre-match press briefings have been dominated by questions over injuries to key players this season but that appears to be changing.

"It has got to be a good sign that I am not sitting here reeling off a list of casualties," added Phillips, despite having second-top goalscorer Paul Gedman sidelined since the 3-0 win over Bridlington Town two weeks ago.

"Gedman will not be right for tomorrow but, significantly, he was back at training on Tuesday and did start running.

"That is very soon after the injury he suffered when he clashed with the keeper against Bridlington.

"Otherwise there are no new injuries so I think we have a full complement this week.

"Mark Jones played for the reserves in midweek and came through all right and Griff Jones also played and scored another goal. Mark is not ready for a return to the first-team squad but Griff has a good possibility of being included.

"Alistair Brown also had a run-out so I have some selection decisions."
