IN the final group games of the Bradford Mutual Sunday School League Rizues T20 Cup, rain was the main winner.

In Group A, all of the games were called off, meaning three teams, Girlington, Salem Athletic and Northcliffe, finished on seven points each.

As per the rules, the group positions were then decided on most wins, least losses, results between two teams and finally, highest number of runs scored in the tournament.

Girlington became champions of the group as they had beaten both Northcliffe and Salem in the group games.

Salem finished second and qualified because, even though their game with Northcliffe was called off, Salem had scored 794 runs in the tournament and Northcliffe 612 runs.

Girlington will now play Bradford Gymkhana, the runners up of Group B, in the semi-final, while Salem will play Great Horton Church in the last four of the Group A/B competition.

In Group B, the top of the table clash between Great Horton Church and Bradford Gymkhana was called off due to the weather.

This meant Church won the group as they had score 682 and Bradford Gymkhana 660 runs.

Apperley Bridge finished in third place after their game against fourth placed Bradford Indians was called off too.

Bowling Baptist beat Yorkshire LPS by three wickets in the only game which took place in Group B.

Yorkshire LPS batted first and were bowled out for 86, Bhavin B Patel scoring 47.

Omar Latif took 4-24 and Shazaid Yousaf took 3-19, including a hat-trick.

In reply, Baptist scored 87-3, with Ghazanfer Bashir scoring 41.

Allerton gained top spot in Group C and a place in the Group C/D semi-finals after beating Bradford Gymkhana B by 72 runs in a game reduced to 12 overs per side.

Allerton batted first and scored 128-5, declaring after 11 overs. Murtaza Ali scored 42, while Noman Shabbir finished unbeaten on 52.

In reply, Bradford Gymkhana scored 56-4 off 11 overs, as a further over was lost due to rain.

Gymkhana B finished in third place.

Greenfield finished fourth in Group C after beating Yorkshire LPS B by eight wickets.

LPS were bowled out for 70 off 13.5 overs, with Hassan Akhtar (3-14) and Adeel Ahmed (3-10) taking the wickets for Greenfield.

In reply, Greenfield scored 71-2 off 9.4 overs, with Adeel Ahmed retiring not out on 50.

Great Horton Church B have also qualified for the semi-final, even though their game was called off against Mandhata due to the rain.

Allerton will now play Bradford Phoenix and Great Horton Church B will face Girlington B in the semi-finals of the Group C/D competition.

Finally, there were no games in group D, so Girlington B and Bradford Phoenix qualified for the semi-finals as winners and runners up respectively.

Those ties will be played this Saturday.
