ECCLESHILL United managed an excellent 1-1 draw with Farsley Celtic in their pre-season friendly at the Mitton Group Stadium on Saturday.

The Eagles were thumped 5-0 by the Celts in this fixture last year, but proved to be a sterner test this time around.

Lee Elam's Eccleshill side created early chances, with Jonny Irving heading just over and Luke Aldrich forcing a fine save from former Bradford (Park Avenue) keeper Steven Drench.

And they took the lead in the 33rd minute when midfielder Dominic Staunton drilled home from the edge of the box.

Eccleshill keeper Brad Emmerson was forced into a couple of fine second half saves, before Farsley's Tom Allan equalised in the 70th minute with a header from a corner.

The Celts looked likely to win it from then on, hitting the post and then forcing another great save from Emmerson, but in the end, they had to settle for a draw.

Liversedge also got a great win, as they beat Stockton Town 2-1 away from home. They dominated the first half, but only had an early Alfie Raw goal to show for it.

Stockton drew level early in the second half, but Joe Walton restored Sedge's lead just after the hour mark. It was one they never relinquished.

Campion were well beaten, 3-0 at home to Mossley, while Silsden lost 2-1 at home to Bradford (Park Avenue), in a game covered by T&A sports reporter Rowan Newman.

Joe Jagger's brace put Brighouse Town 2-0 up at home to Scarborough Athletic, but the visitors brought the score back to 2-2 by the 70th minute.

However, Javelle Clarke netted late on to secure victory for Brighouse.

Tomorrow night, Brighouse host League Two side Harrogate Town, while Campion entertain Avenue.

Thackley welcome Steeton to Dennyfield, while Silsden visit Oxenhope Recreation.

Thursday night sees Eccleshill play away to Golcar United, while on Friday, Brighouse will travel to Penistone Church.
