FORMER City striker Craig Fagan has missed out after Southend today appointed their new manager.

The Shrimpers, who have been relegated to League Two, have unveiled former Weymouth boss Mark Molesley.

Fagan is currently the under-23 manager at Roots Hall and is believed to have been on the shortlist for the vacancy.

The 37-year-old was one of Phil Parkinson’s first signings for the Bantams in 2011 and scored eight goals in 35 games.

Southend have been without a manager since Sol Campbell quit the club at the end of June.

Molesley led Weymouth to successive promotions to the National League and has also been coaching the under-23 side at Bournemouth.
