THE ladies from Ilkley Golf Club have been at it again raising more money for a local charity.

Ladies president Angela Jackson organised a prize day where over £200 was generated for Lets Sing Together.

The singing group was set up in 2015 for people with memory problems and their carers. The well attended weekly sessions were held at the Clark Foley Centre on Tuesdays until the recent lockdown.

The charity is run by Janet Austin and Jan Mallard along with a wonderful group of volunteers.

When explaining the purpose of the charity, Austin said: "Singing is so important for people with poor memories.

"It allows them to do something to the same standard as they could previously do when most of their other functions are slowly declining. Our group has now become very much a family.

"The carers who support the people with dementia enjoy being together in a social environment allowing them to share their experiences.

"We don’t charge for the session and tea and homemade cakes are served in he break.

"We are delighted to receive the kind donation from Ilkley Golf Club."

The better ball stableford event was won by Kath Chivers and Claire Fearnley with 50 points, narrowly beating Sue Atkins and Janet Cooper.

Earlier this month, the ladies raised over £350 for Aireborough Supported Activities Scheme in their first event post lockdown.
