CAPTAIN Tom Moore has written to Keighley RUFC to thank them for bestowing a pair of honours upon him.
Like everyone in Keighley, the town's premier rugby union club were blown away by their local hero's efforts in raising over £32m for the NHS by doing laps of his garden throughout April.
The 100-year-old's achievement saw him receive a knighthood last month.
But clearly all honours mean a lot to Captain Moore, and when Keighley's director of rugby, Russ Gibson, wrote to him, presenting him with honorary membership and a centenary club tie, the war veteran was quick to respond.
He wrote back: "Thank you so very much for your honours, it truly means a lot to me!
"May your club gain success and I wish you all the best. Sadly my legs aren't quite as good so I can no longer think of playing rugby, yet I keenly watch."
