Without much fuss or any fanfare, Liversedge climbed to the Northern Counties East League summit with a 4-1 home win over Parkgate in midweek and will hope to consolidate their Premier Division leadership with victory at Long Eaton United on Saturday.

"The midweek win took us top by a point and although we have played a couple of games more than the others, it is up to them to catch us now," said Sedge manager Steve Newton.

"I hope we can stretch our good run past this weekend but I have one or two missing for this game. Paul Smith was taken off in an ambulance on Tuesday after landing badly on his ankle.

"Gary Tyson broke his wrist the previous Saturday and Matty Fahy, who has been playing really well, has work commitments."
