YOUNGSTERS who play in the Halifax Junior Cricket League have been given a lovely boost, with a host of famous names from the sport coming together to send them a positive message.

Among those wishing the youngsters well and offering encouragement are West Indies legend Sir Curtly Ambrose and former Yorkshire and England star Ryan Sidebottom.

Lord Kamlesh Patel, Carlos Braithwaite, Will Fraine, Jason Holder and Alex Lees appear in the six-minute clip too.

The video also features the league's secretary Kirstin Smith, who is perhaps better known as a player and particularly as a coach.

The aim of the project is to make contact, via video, with all the junior cricketers in the league to ensure that they maintain interest in the sport during this period of Covid-19 lockdown and to give them motivation for the future.

To get together and obtain interviews and permission for this assembled team of seven, a brilliant mixture of Yorkshire stars, international cricketers plus a titled administrator, was a great effort by all involved.
