BRADFORD City Disability are aiming to raise £3500 to fund several players and coaches who have been selected to represent Yorkshire & Humberside at the 2021 Special Olympics GB in Liverpool.
Over 2,000 athletes will take part in the summer games, which is held every four years and showcases a wide range of sports including Athletics, Boccia, Football, Gymnastics, Swimming, and the Motor Activities Training Programme for people with multiple cognitive disabilities.
The money raised will cover the costs of travel to and from the venues daily, four/five nights accommodation, meals, kits and tracksuits for the players.
Special Olympics GB is the largest registered charity providing year-round sports training and competition opportunities for people with learning disabilities – transforming the lives of thousands of people through the power of sport.
Around 1.5 million people in the UK (2% of the population) have an intellectual disability.
