A MUCH-loved figure in the motorcycling world, Mel Harrison, passed away at his Bingley home on Saturday morning after a long battle with leukaemia.
His wife Janet and daughters Wendy and Claire were at his bedside.
He left his Airedale Hospital bed briefly last year to attend the Yeadon-Guiseley club's Mel Harrison sidecar championship trial at Fellbeck.
Last October, he stressed that whatever the outcome, the 2020 Mel Harrison Trial would run this year, with Kevin Morley and Les Ashby as joint clerks of the course and Wendy Harrison as event secretary.
Sadly, the current coronavirus pandemic may dictate otherwise.
