BRIGHOUSE Town captain Jordan Porter has left the club, with Kurt Harris taking over as skipper.

Porter, who is from Brighouse, helped the club to a Northern Premier League Division One East play-off final win over Pontefract Collieries in 2018/19.

Sadly, with only five of the seven play-off winners at that step being promoted, Town were cruelly denied promotion due to a points-per-game system.

Despite that disappointment, Porter stayed at the club, who were transferred to the Northern Premier League Division One North West at the start of this season.

When the season was abandoned, Brighouse sat 11th, on 38 points.

Posting on social media after his departure was confirmed, Porter said: “That’s another chapter of my life complete.

“Thanks to everyone at Brighouse Town for the past two seasons. Was an honour to captain my hometown, made some great memories and even better mates.

“Congratulations and all the best to Kurt Harris, couldn’t think of a better person to captain the club. All the best for the future. Onwards...”
