FORMER Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers coach, Lee Burgess, has joined Campion’s management team.

Burgess will work alongside managerial duo Lee Ashforth and James Bicknell, as the club aim to go again next year after the FA voided their 2019/20 campaign.

The trainer, who acted as Lead Academy Foundation Coach at Leeds, is UEFA B qualified and has a vast amount of experience across all aspects of the game.

Burgess has a reputation for developing players, both technically and tactically, working across professional, semi-professional and grassroots levels.

He has also worked in Singapore, where he was an Academy Director for the ESPZEN Soccer School.

Burgess told Campion’s Twitter: “I am really pleased to be given this opportunity.

“Challenging to push for promotion next season with Campion FC is something I am looking forward to.

“Building upon the good work in place and helping develop this team further is important and I can’t wait for the season to start.

“I am grateful for the opportunity and looking forward to the new season ahead.”

Ashforth and Bicknell are delighted to get Burgess on board.

The pair also spoke to the club's Twitter, saying: “We are looking to continue the development of Campion FC, as the club has progressed over the last few years.

“The disappointment of not gaining promotion this season due to the ongoing situation has been unfortunate, but we are planning to improve again.

“Bringing in Lee to add to the current staff is something we worked hard to make happen, and to improve the way we develop and work off the pitch.”
