CITY have tonight confirmed that Saturday’s game against Leyton Orient will go ahead as planned.

The club released a statement to outline their position as the number of reported cases of the coronavirus continue to rise in the UK.

The government have declared the country has entered the “delay” phase with the pandemic following today’s emergency COBRA meeting.

City said that steps have been taken at Valley Parade, as well as the club’s training ground at Woodhouse Grove, in an attempt to contain the spread of the disease.

The club are continuing to monitor the situation and will work closely with the football authorities on the matter.

An EFL statement said: "In light of today’s announcement by the UK Government, EFL matches will continue to take place as normal while the guidance from the relevant authorities remains that there is no medical rationale to close or cancel sporting events at this time."
