LIVERSEDGE would have gone top of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division with a home win over Thackley tonight, but the Bradford district rivals will have to try again at a later date, with the game called off this afternoon.

Sedge made the announcement at around 1:30pm, saying that the postponement was down to a waterlogged pitch at Clayborn.

It is a shame for Jonathan Rimmington's side, who have built up some incredible momentum over the last few months.

They have not lost in the league since November 23, against Hemsworth Miners Welfare, and have won eight of their last 10 matches.

The news may come as more of a relief to Thackley, who are perfectly safe in mid-table, but have slipped down a few places on the back of three consecutive defeats.

They will be hoping to end that run when they host a strong Maltby Main side on Saturday. Sedge's next scheduled game is also on Saturday, away to Grimsby Borough, who still have an outside chance of promotion.

Silsden are set to play tonight though, as they make the trip to Sheffield-based side Handsworth.
