BRADFORD (Park Avenue) have signed defender Karl Byrne following his mutual release from Vanarama National League promotion chasers Boston United.
The right back, who has played at Irish side Cabinteely and Frickley Athletic in the past, joined the Pilgrims at the start of the season following a successful trial period.
Despite making eight appearances in a United shirt, the Irishman was deemed surplus for requirements and released after dual-registration spells at Northern Premier League sides Grantham Town and Buxton.
Byrne provides Mark Bower with much-needed cover in defence after centre half Liam Hughes left for Frickley last month.
It is expected that the 23-year-old will go straight into the squad for today’s match against Chester at Horsfall.
