KATY Woodcock has been named Bradford City Women skipper for the remainder of the season.

Woodcock, who previously captained the reserve side, has made 12 appearances since returning to the club this season and wore the arm band for the first time in the 3-2 win at Norton Ladies.

Two stand-out performers from the reserve team have been promoted into the first team squad. Louise Willoughby and Paris Durrant both stepped up and made their competitive starts in the 2-2 home draw against Chester-le-Street Town.

Chris Hames has also bolstered his squad for their battle against relegation by bringing in two recruits.

Charlotte Gill made the switch from FA Women's National League side Doncaster Rovers Belles having also played in the West Riding County League before for Guiseley Vixens and Brighouse Town.

Winger Sophie Hawkins rejoins the club after a spell in the WRCL with Skipton Ladies.

Manager Chris Hames is pleased with the recent changes he has made to his team: "It’s been another hectic few weeks, but I’m delighted with the outcomes and the opportunity to reshuffle this squad into, what I believe, is a far stronger shape.

"The additions we have made have definitely bolstered the squad, and given us another edge, as well as driving standards further, thanks to this competition for places. Sophie (Hawkins) has settled in brilliantly, making a huge impact in her debut, and I can’t wait to get Charlotte (Gill) doing the same soon.

"Similarly having Katy step up and take on the captaincy role has been a huge boost for the team, as for me she sets the standards of what it takes to commit yourself to compete at this level.

"Louise (Willoughby) and Paris (Durrant) both had their starts thrown on them a few weeks ago, and showed great quality in that match. I’ve had no reservations in using both frequently in the subsequent matches and we are all looking forward to continuing to work with both on and off the pitch."
