LIVERSEDGE continued their title push with an excellent 2-0 win at fifth-placed Bridlington Town last night in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
Substitute Michael Bottomley was the hero, as he came on for the injured James Ghaichem to strike a second half brace.
He opened the scoring from a Sedge counter attack in the 52nd minute, before grabbing another 15 minutes later after a Joe Walton cross fell nicely for him.
The win sends Jonathan Rimmington's side up to second, five points behind leaders Staveley Miners Welfare but with two games in hand.
It was a less terrific Tuesday for Thackley, who lost 2-1 at fellow mid-table outfit Knaresborough Town.
Sam Cook opened the scoring for Knaresborough on 44 minutes, with Robert Youhill doubling the home side's lead just after the break.
Thackley responded quickly with a goal from Owen Murphy, but they failed in their attempts to find an equaliser.
The defeat sees the Dennyboys remain in 12th, with victorious Knaresborough now just three points behind them in 14th.
