Bradford No1 AA

WITH the high water levels across the district, many of the club's river stretches are likely to remain unfishable for the foreseeable future.

When the levels do drop, banks are likely to be extremely dangerous, so extra care will be required if venturing out.

The water level at Knotford is currently very high, after flooding occurred again at the river. However, the fence held firm to protect the club's assets.

The fourth round of the Raskelf Winter Series was held on Sunday, with some high-quality catches taking place, considering the amount of cold water entering the lake lately.

The winner, Simon Foster with 21lb 2oz of F1 carp on feeder and maggot, was followed by James Vickerman with 19lb 5oz and Roy Ashworth with 18lb 9oz.

Heading into the final match next month, it is very close at the league’s summit.

Howard Foster currently tops the table with 82 points, closely followed by Eric Wright (81 points), Nick Freer (78), Chris Pitman (76) and Bob Newby (76).

There have been good catches of ide and chub from Gratrix Dam, lately on waggler and maggot. Shelf Dam has produced good nets of roach and skimmers on bread punch and pole.

Members are reminded that, from this weekend, we will no longer hold the fishing rights to the River Swale at Topcliffe. This is due to the riparian owner selling the land.

Leeds and District ASA

Extreme weather conditions have seen some cancelled fixtures on both stillwaters and rivers.

If venturing out, care should be taken as the banks are extremely slippery.

Some matches have taken place though.

Results from Tuesday, February 18 match at Kippax Park: 1. M. Rockingham 8oz, 2. T. Hewson 1oz.

Things were much better at Moormonkton on Wednesday, February 19. The winner was M Wade 100lb 3oz, 2. S. Pearson 68lb 5oz, 3. C.Watson 56lb 7oz.

Sunday, February 23: 1. M. Green 101lb 11oz, 2. B. Fisk 48lb 6oz, 3. C.Watson 48lb.

The February 12 results are as follows: 1. S.Pearson 42lb 5oz, 2. M.Wade 10lb 8oz and 3. S.Holmes 8lb 7oz.

While the scores in another Sunday match stood at: 1. G. Wright 64lb 10oz, 2. S. Jeffreys 62lb 4oz, 3. A.Bolton 57lb 6oz.

Matches at Kippax Park have been suspended for the time being.

Bradford & District Sea Angling Club

Will members try not to forget our quarterly meeting, which will take place on March 17 at our headquarters in East Bierley. It commences at 8pm.

This will be our presentation evening. New members will be made most welcome.

Listerhills AA

The match due to have been fished last Sunday was cancelled due to the weather.

The next canal match will be held on Saturday, February 29.

There have not been many anglers out during the last week and weather conditions have not been good. It is also expected to be unsettled over the next few days.
