CITY will go on the front foot against one of League Two’s hottest teams, Kenny Black has promised.

The Bantams are back at Valley Parade tomorrow when they face fourth-placed Plymouth.

Only Cheltenham can better Argyle’s run of 24 points since New Year’s Day.

But Black insists City, who have only won once in that time, will not be intimidated by that recent record, and they plan to take the game to the in-form visitors.

“The best thing you can do being at home is go and be positive from the first whistle,” said the assistant boss. “That’s certainly what we’ll try to do.

“We’ve got to get that Valley Parade crowd up. After two defeats, I'm sure they will get right behind us.

"It’s up to us to take the game to Plymouth and cause them a few problems.

“You look at the teams who got relegated last season from League One and Plymouth have been the pick of the four.

“Walsall have been a little bit inconsistent, Scunthorpe certainly the same and we’re going through a run now where we need to get back on track as quickly as possible.

“They’ve managed to keep hold of a lot of the players and the manager recruited those he has worked with before.

“We’ve looked at what they’ve done over the last number of weeks and they are on a decent run of form.

"They are one of the markers for where we want to be. We need to get going again but what better way to do that than against one of the top outfits in the league?”

Stuart McCall’s side will be relieved to return home, after successive away losses at Cambridge and Newport pushed them four points behind the top seven.

Black admitted: “One victory in 11 is not great form and we need to get that sorted as soon as possible.

"We've played four games and three times we've managed to get our noses in front, yet taken one point.

"It's a concern and if we do go in front, we've got to make ourselves more difficult to play against.

“We don’t really have a great deal of time between now and the end of the season, so there’s no better game to start than this one.

“We’d obviously like to have a few more points in the bag. But we can only influence the promotion play-offs when we start getting results.

“It’s nice when you come in after the game and you’ve picked up three points, to then see how such and such got on.

“It looks as if there are three or four who’ve got themselves a little gap. But you never know between now and the end of the season.

“It just takes a team to go on a run of five or six victories and that enhances the confidence. That’s what we’ve got to aim for.”

Plymouth beat City 2-1 at Home Park in November when they were eight places below them.

Plymouth boss Ryan Lowe said: “Bradford are a very good club. There will be a big crowd at Valley Parade and that’s a motivation for us.”
