NEW Earswick IBC Ospreys fell to a 121-48 defeat to Thornaby in the Yorkshire Over-55s League.

At home, Gordon Fratson, Dave Counter, Barrie Shipley and Rob Dunhill fell away to a 25-18 defeat, with Gordon Johnson, Dave Turner, Ian Carr and Alan Shearer going down 22-10.

At Thornaby, Phil Whitehead, Doug Carr, Dave Crane and Bob Barrett lost 33-12 while Vic Reed, Dave Hutchinson, Alwyn Anderson and John Taylor finished with a 41-8 defeat.

New Earswick Falcons ended their 2020 Yorkshire O55s division two season with an overwhelming 102-39 win against local rivals York Romans.

John Harrison, Brian Birch, Barry Johnson and Kevin Liddell ran riot against A. Lockwood, J. Munday, I. Deerlove, and M. Snowden, leading 31-1 after 15 ends and went on to win 39-5.

Dave Clayden, Rod Walker, Dick Osguthorpe and Mick Head went from only leading J. Walton, D. Walls , N, Mallen and D. Dearlove 9-7 after 12 ends to a easy 24-9 victory.

At Thanet Road, Paul Murray, Bob Elliot, Bill Waldie Ralph Tiplady took an early 8-0 lead in their 25-15 win against C. Arnott, M. Renkeiller, J. Sandle and N. Ellis

Dave Furness, Graham Lockwood, Eric Cookson and Paul Dawson won a low-scoring encounter with R. Wynn, D. Snarr, A. Yoward and T. Scott 14-10.

New Earswick 'A' also completed their 2020 fixtures with an 80-68 win over Selby.

John Harrison, Bill Nuckey, Mick Head and Bill Waldie won 23-19 and, in a very close encounter, Dave Furness, Bob Elliot, Gary Jones and Paul Dawson just lost 16-15.

At Selby, Brian Harton, Dick Osguthorpe, Ralph Tiplady and Colin Pickup won 18-14 while Andrew Fothergill, Paul Murray, Kevin Liddell and Rob Domville won 24-19.

New Earswick ‘C’ beat Doncaster ‘B’ 74-60 in Yorkshire League division two.

Matt Brown Chris Evans, Paul Webster and Mickey Warriner came from behind to win 18-13 while Dave Sykes, Barry Harrison, Pete Waddington and Rob Dunnill won comfortably 27-12.

At Doncaster, Stuart Moore, Steve Scaife, Dave Hutchinson and Nigel Steels lost 17 -21. Team-mates Dave Jeffries, David Turner, Graham Bell and Vic Thompson lost 14-12.

New Earswick Ladies beat Scarborough 74-60 in the Yorkshire Ladies League.

At home, Lynn Clapham, Clare Wright, Diane Hardy and Majorie Watson went from leading 9-4 to lose 14-13 and Claire Domville, Christine Pickup, Kay Hutchinson and Sally Domville won 20-17.

At Scarborough, Margaret Morgan, Moira Ellis, Lesley Nuckey and Kath Sykes won 25-14 while Carole Thompson, Ann Barnard, Jennie Philpott and Norma Davies won 16-15.

Table-toppers York IBC Ladies lost 59-56 on aggregate to second-placed Harrogate.

At home, fightbacks saw Pat Berwick, Pauline Armitage, Sue Kirkpatrick and Helen Wood win 18-14 and Pat Walker, Maureen Walker, Pat Potter and Sheila Turpin win 16-11.

Away, Carol Banks, Sue Tomlinson, Melanie Brooke and Linda Harrison triumphed comfortably 15-11 though Tina Robinson, Betty Richardson, Kath Pepper and Carol Instone went down 23-7.

In Yorkshire League division one, York beat North Cave 83-69 but have lost the title to Hornsea.

At home, Harley Wenham, Phil Parsons, Jeff Normanton and Craig Newton won 24-9. Alan Vowles, Graham Brooke, Mark Clarke and Tony Horobin had led but lost 24-18.

Away, Nathan Richards, Jo Mann, Kieran Earnshaw and Jack Bird won 24-16. John Whiteley, Dave Cowsill, John Crowe and Dave Stroughair lost 20-17.

York 'B' need to beat division two leaders Thornaby 12-2 on points on Saturday to secure promotion after they beat Hornsea 'B' 98-68.

At home, Ken Griffiths, Alan Hampshire, Jack Woodworth and Dave Dale won 36-13 while Allen Clapham, Paul Craven, Jim Robertson and Graham Instone lost 25-17.

Away, Ken Simpson, Pete Riley, Gordon Fennell and Mal Bulmer were impressive in a 31-11 while Billy Flavell, Malcolm Harrison, David White and Pete Bradley lost 19-14.

In division three, York 'C' lost 85-75 to Leeds 'B'. They now need to beat rivals New Earswick in their last game to claim a top-four place.

Pete Waring, Barry Walker, Dave Clough and Dave Clarke won 21-14. Eric Hodgson, Mal Rankeillor, Colin Robinson and Mike Snowden won 23-18.

Alan Braithwaite, Dennis Walls, Norman Ellis and Trevor Scott won 25-20, while Wally Darbyshire, Ian Mackland, Noel Mallen and Dave Berwick lost 33-8.

In Yorkshire O55s League division one, York Knights beat Doncaster 88-76.

Away, Allen Clapham, Barry Walker, Jim Robertson and Graham Instone triumphed 24-18.

Alan Braithwaite, Dave Clough, David White and Pete Bradley edged it 18-16.

At home, Ken Robinson, Vic Woolley, Dave Clarke and Geoff Walker won 29-11 though Eric Hodgson, Dave Holder, Colin Robinson and Steve Lea lost 31-19.
