THE Carabao Cup's Twitter account had a nightmare moment this lunchtime, forgetting all about Phil Parkinson and his Bradford City history-makers.
Ahead of Sunday's final between Aston Villa and Manchester City, they tweeted that the former's manager, Dean Smith, would be the first Englishman to lead his team out for a League Cup Final since Harry Redknapp with Tottenham Hotspur in 2009.
But how could they possibly forget about one of domestic football's greatest cup runs of the previous decade?
The very English Parkinson, who was born in Lancashire, steered the fourth-tier Bantams past Premier League sides Wigan Athletic, Arsenal and Villa on their way to a final showdown with Swansea City.
Sadly, they were handed a 5-0 drubbing on the day, but Parkinson will always have that moment of being on the sidelines at Wembley, with an amazing backdrop of claret and amber scarves.
Not that the Carabao Cup's Twitter page remembered. They swiftly deleted the tweet, but not before it was screenshotted by City fan @eskimofandango (see above).
@Carabao_Cup Here is Phil Parkinson leading his @officialbantams team out at Wembley in 2013. How daft of me to think a team outside of the Premier League would ever deserve any credit. Soz 🙄 #bcafc pic.twitter.com/S8rVJJMBOU

For the time the incorrect post was up, it certainly incurred the wrath of Bantams fans, as evidenced by the tweets below, including one from the T&A's disbelieving chief sports writer Simon Parker:

Note to the Carabao Cup, check before you tweet. City fans are an unforgiving bunch.
