BRADFORD City Women are aiming to make it third time lucky when they visit Leeds United tomorrow night.

The Bantams travel to United's training ground at Thorpe Arch for the FA Women's National League Division One North clash under lights (7.45pm).

Leeds came away with the spoils in the two previous clashes between the sides this season in two highly competitive games where United had the clinical touch in front of goal that proved the difference.

After City were down to the bare bones last time out, having no substitutes and a couple of players carrying knocks, they should be stronger, with Falone Sumaili back from international duties and a couple of other absentees due back.

Leeds are flying high in second spot but City manager Chris Hames will be feeling hopeful of getting something out of the game, having broken their long losing streak in the league with a 2-2 draw at home to Chester-le-Street.

Only a last-minute penalty denied them victory, with the Bantams having improved in all areas of the pitch and most importantly in front of goal.

There was some action for local women's teams on Sunday despite the impact of Storm Dennis.

In the same division as City, Brighouse Town unveiled new signings Dan Whitham and goalkeeper Carrie Simpson in their 1-0 win at Chorley.

Brighouse had the better of the few chances in the first half, and a speculative 25-yard shot from Aimi Beresford gave Town the advantage before the break.

The second half was more even, and just before the end, an excellent save from Simpson denied Chorley.

Victory puts Brighouse in good heart as they prepare for their home match against leaders Barnsley tomorrow night.

Farsley Juniors first team romped to a 7-0 win in their West Riding League Cup quarter final at home to Leeds City. Five goals from Sarah Lawn, one from Katie Platts and an own goal put them on track for a second successive final appearance.

Silsden remain at the foot of the West Riding County Women's League Premier Division after losing 5-2 at home to Thackley Firsts.

Lois Cooper (2), Megan Butterworth, Annie Nicol and Hannah Wolstenholme were on target for the visitors. Natasha Marsh and Eleanor Field registered goals for the hosts.

This weekend, Bradford (Park Avenue) have a 'six-pointer' at bottom side Harrogate Railway in the North East Regional League Southern Division.
